STRATEGIC PLANNING
& EXECUTION
Taking The Necessary Action
Effective strategic planning and strategy execution are key to driving sustainable business success and growth. The goal is to help leaders and companies focus more time on the physical execution component versus on a long, often drawn-out or complex planning process. While effective planning and analysis are critical components, much lost opportunity occurs when too much emphasis and time are put into “getting all the information” and “getting it perfect” before taking the necessary action.

Defining The Strategy, Setting Initiatives, Decision Making & Organizational Alignment
Strategic planning is the process of formulating the vision of what the organization wants to be based on some knowns, many unknowns and the external environment at a given point in time. About 80-90% of the time, a strategy should be viewed as a living document and be assessed for effectiveness and refreshed periodically based on new information; a changing business climate, competitive threats, shareholder directives as well as, ever changing customer needs and wants. For the other 10-20% of the scenarios a more aggressive and purposeful transformation of the business and organization is required but the same elements of “the why” as described for a periodic strategy assessment refresh also apply.

The most common elements of planning are defining the strategy, setting strategic initiatives, making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue the strategy, and aligning the organization to ensure that employees and other stakeholders collaborate toward common objectives.
